Types of rashes
Red rashes, photos of which you will find in the material, can form on almost any part of the face. But in order to determine the cause and occurrence and make a preliminary diagnosis, it is necessary to pay attention to the appearance of the rash.
What types of spots are there?
- Dry, flaky, skin-tightening rashes. Such spots are formed due to allergic reactions, dehydration, sunburn and chapping.
- A wet rash can be caused by eczema or dermatitis.
- Purulent spots - a severe form of fungus, inflammation, purulent pimples.
- Swelling spots. Such a rash may be a symptom of kidney disease, diathesis or allergies.
- Spots protruding above the skin. This type of rash is formed due to vitamin deficiency, infectious disease, fungus or subcutaneous pimple.
Infectious diseases
The appearance of red spots on the face is also characteristic of infectious diseases:
- Measles;
- Rubella;
- Chickenpox;
- Scarlet fever.
Most often the spots appear on the face, but can be on the stomach and elbows. During infectious diseases, additional symptoms characteristic of a particular illness also appear.

What causes red spots to appear on the face?
There are quite a few reasons for the occurrence of this type of rash. Red spots can be caused by both external irritants and internal malfunctions in the body.
The most common reasons:
- skin diseases;
- burn and chapping;
- infectious and viral diseases;
- hormonal disorders;
- avitaminosis;
- diseases of internal organs;
- allergy;
- dryness and hypersensitivity of the skin;
- stress;
- acne;
- pregnancy.
Moreover, red spots on the face can appear due to poor diet and bad habits.
Diagnostic methods
You can independently determine why red spots appear on the face only in cases where they are caused by:
- using low-quality or inappropriate cosmetics;
- reaction to food;
- prolonged exposure to sunlight or in a solarium;
- walking in windy or cold weather.
If none of these factors is the cause of the rash, and the red spot does not go away for a long time, then you should consult a doctor. A therapist, dermatologist, endocrinologist or neurologist can help diagnose the problem. If it is impossible to determine the cause of the rash by external signs, then additional examination will be necessary:
- donate blood for analysis;
- take an allergy test;
- do an ultrasound of internal organs.
In some cases, scraping, immunogram and gastroscopy will help determine the diagnosis.
Redness and burning of the face: causes
According to doctors and cosmetologists, redness and burning on the face have different causes; they are divided into physiological and psychological.
The first group includes various diseases, exposure to bright sun and sudden changes in temperature, the body’s reaction to smoking, alcohol, and spicy food. The face is covered with red spots and is burning due to damage to the trigeminal nerve, taking antibiotics, using low-quality cosmetics, and allergies. Lupus appears as a rash with red dots. The skin turns reddish when the heart or blood pressure is bothering you.
If your face suddenly turns red, there may be a psychological reason - severe stress, shyness, excitement.
Facial redness
Redness on the face is not always a bad thing. For example, a child is born pale purple, but gradually his body turns red, this is a criterion for vitality. A teenager complaining of a burning sensation and red spots is a reason to suspect an infectious disease.
After analyzing your well-being and state of mind, you can independently understand why your face is red and burning. A medical examination will help identify diseases. Only after finding the provoking factor do they begin to fight to eliminate the problem.
Cuperosis
A burning sensation occurs with a serious illness - rosacea. This is what is called a circulatory disorder of the skin. The disease is provoked by any cause of vasodilation. Women and men with sensitive skin are at risk.
To treat the disease, they normalize cosmetic care and switch to proper nutrition.

Rosacea
The chronic disease is characterized by swelling and hardening of the skin. Fair-skinned women are most often affected. It is worth finding out if there is a genetic predisposition. It is impossible to cure the disease on your own. In case of illness, consult a dermatologist and endocrinologist.
How to treat red spots
The methods and duration of therapy depend on the cause that caused the spot to appear.
Treatment methods:
- use of external agents;
- procedures in beauty salons;
- traditional medicine recipes.
In some cases, a course of taking tablet medications may be required. During treatment of rashes, it is recommended to adhere to a diet and observe basic hygiene rules.
The main key to successful treatment of spots is a complete rejection of decorative cosmetics. There is no need to try to disguise the defects, because in this way the inflammation will only worsen. In addition, you should avoid peelings and scrubs, as they cannot be used on irritated and inflamed skin.
External products
Self-medication of any type of rash can cause irreparable harm to health. After all, the choice of medication, as well as the duration of the course of therapy, depends on the diagnosis. And only a doctor can determine the cause. Therefore, the description of the drugs is for informational purposes only, and in no case is a call to action. It is especially dangerous to self-administer medications during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Depending on the diagnosis and general condition of the patient, the following categories of drugs are prescribed for the treatment of red spots on the face:
- Antihistamines . Drugs in this group are used to treat allergic rashes. They can be produced in the form of various creams and ointments, as well as tablets and sprays. The most effective: Zyrtec, Claritin, Suprastin.
- Sedatives . This category of drugs is prescribed to treat rashes caused by stress, insomnia, increased nervousness and anxiety. Medicines are available in the form of drops or tablets. Most often, Sedavit, Afobazole, tincture of valerian and motherwort are used to treat such symptoms.
- External use products . This type of medication includes creams, gels and ointments that relieve inflammation, reduce itching, moisturize the skin, and also treat acne. To treat these symptoms, zinc, salicylic, ichthyol ointment is prescribed. Metrogyl and Bepanten are no less effective.
- Multivitamins . Such drugs are prescribed for vitamin deficiencies and lack of useful microelements in the body. Such complexes as Duovit, Aevit, Centrum have proven themselves well.
To treat ordinary red spots caused by external irritants (frost, sun rays, wind) no special medications are needed. It is enough to lubricate the damaged areas with regular baby cream. It will help relieve itching and burning, and also quickly relieve skin inflammation.
What to apply for chapping
Allergies in infants on the face
The chapped areas of the skin dry out, itch and begin to hurt. There is no special treatment for this. The skin is lubricated with Bepanten or any of its analogues. It is important that the ointment does not contain alcohol-containing components - they cause a burning sensation and the child will cry.
Any healing agent is perfect for eliminating chapping. After lubricating the wound, a pleasant feeling of hydration occurs. Smear the areas several times a day, apply the medicine in a thick layer.
Baby's rosy cheeks
The product is quickly absorbed into the blood and accelerates the regeneration process. After a couple of days, the wounds stop hurting and itching. For prevention, children are protected from the wind with warm clothes and special devices. Before going out for a walk, apply a moisturizer to exposed skin.
Treatment in a cosmetology salon
It is worth paying attention to the fact that salon procedures are not a method of treating red spots, because they cannot eliminate the cause of the rash. Sessions help remove only external defects. And if the cause of the rash is not eliminated before cosmetic procedures, the result will be ineffective, and after a while it will return.
The following salon methods are used to treat red spots:
- Cryotherapy;
- Electrocoagulation;
- Vitamin mask;
- Peeling with fruit acids;
- Laser cauterization of blood vessels.

Causes of red spots on the cheeks of newborns
Why does a child's feet peel - what to do?
Food allergies appear in infants who are breastfed or bottle-fed. In both cases, the reason is the same - milk contains a substance that is an allergen for the baby.
Important! During breastfeeding, mothers must adhere to a diet.
Breastfed
After discharge from the hospital, the mother is prescribed a low-calorie diet while breastfeeding the newborn. The principle is that as the baby grows, the mother is allowed to eat more different foods.
Red cheeks in a breastfed baby are not uncommon. When breastfeeding a month-old baby, you should not neglect your diet. What not to do while breastfeeding:
- grilled meat;
- flour (only white bread is allowed);
- fruit juices;
- tomato and carrot juices;
- sweet;
- chips, crackers;
- smoked sausages;
- jerky;
- chocolate;
- honey;
- greenery;
- eggs;
- alcohol.
In the first month, doctors recommend eating as many vegetables, cereals and boiled chicken as possible. This will help restore your figure after childbirth and avoid allergies.
The baby has spots on his face
A rash on the cheeks of a toddler does not always occur; anyway, foods are introduced into the mother’s diet one by one in small quantities, and the baby’s reaction is observed. If everything is in order, then the products become permitted. The doctor will tell you what diet to follow.
Food products eaten by the mother are broken down in the stomach, absorbed into the blood and distributed throughout the body, including into milk. Children drink mother's milk and allergies occur. The rash appears on both cheeks or one.
Important! If redness on the cheeks does not go away for a long time, you should consult a doctor. Possible allergy to mother's milk protein. The baby needs to be prescribed formula for artificial feeding.
Artificially fed
Infant formula is made from cow or goat protein. A child's stomach is not yet capable of fully digesting such components. Each manufacturer uses its own protein processing method. The expensive price of a mixture does not indicate its perfection. All babies are individual, and the cheapest formula may suit some.
Red cheeks on formula feeding are considered a food allergy. The babies are prescribed a new formula. In addition to the rash, children experience colic. There are milk formulas in which proteins undergo an additional stage of breakdown, then are easier to digest and assimilate by the child.
Baby in a sling
On one cheek
A baby may have a red cheek on one side for the same reasons as on both. This could be a food reaction to a product or mixture.
Contact dermatitis occurs after contact with an object that has an allergen on its surface. This could be a wet wipe, moisturizing cream, medicinal ointment, shampoo or shower gel. It usually goes away after the child’s contact with the allergen is eliminated. A red, pinpoint rash appears on the face, sometimes it can be a blistering rash with fluid.
For your information. The more extensive the rash and the stronger the degree of redness, the more allergen has come into contact with the child’s skin. If the reason lies in a food allergy, then change the diet.
Other
Pet dander is one of the most common allergens worldwide. The hairs themselves do not cause a reaction, but the protective secretion from the skin of a dog or cat is toxic to many people.
Because newborns have an imperfect immune system, this reaction occurs frequently. With age, the baby outgrows this condition and reacts calmly to pet hair. Currently, breeders have developed breeds of domestic cats and dogs with a hypoallergenic coat type.
The capillary network on the face appears due to the location of the capillaries near the skin; it needs to be lubricated with venotonics. It goes away with age. It’s just that a child will blush faster in the cold or in the heat, this is considered the norm.
Important! Venotonics have different analogues and practically the same composition. Their operating principle is no different.
Newborn dermatitis
Strong winds in winter or autumn cause children's skin to become red, flaky and a little itchy. This reaction occurs only on the face and hands, as well as all parts of the body not protected by clothing (chin and cheeks). It is recommended to use raincoats, hoods and refrain from walking in bad weather.
Diet
During treatment for skin rashes, it is very important to exclude heavy foods from the diet.
During this period you should avoid:
- sweet;
- fatty and fried foods;
- semi-finished products and fast food;
- hot, salty, smoked and spicy dishes;
- products with preservatives;
- carbonated and alcoholic drinks.
Try to eat boiled or steamed foods. It is very important to drink as much water as possible during treatment. After all, this accelerates the removal of harmful substances and allergens from their body.
How to get rid of stains?
If the cause of this formation is a peculiarity of the skin, then the condition of the skin can be normalized with the help of simple tips, including folk remedies and nutritional recommendations.
- First of all, skin health depends on what you eat. If red spots begin to appear, then it is recommended to exclude the main allergens from the diet: chocolate, dairy products, all citrus fruits, fried foods and pickled foods.
- Take a course of treatment with a mineral-vitamin complex and supplement it with the consumption of fruits and vegetables.
- Try to limit all factors that contribute to dry skin.
- Use nutrients regularly.
- Every morning, wipe problem areas with an ice cube made from herbal infusion.
- Apply herbal compresses a couple of hours before bedtime.
Hygiene
The basic rule for treating rashes is clean skin. Therefore, it is necessary to wash your face morning and evening. Hard water can increase irritation, and it is better to use special lotions. In addition, in hot weather you should treat your skin with an alcohol-free toner.
During treatment of a rash on the face, it is necessary to change bed linen every other day, or wrap the pillow with a clean towel before going to bed. It is recommended to avoid touching your skin with your hands, mobile phone or other objects.
Red spots on the face should be treated in any case. After all, if you start the problem, the inflammation can spread to large areas, or cause abscesses and ulcers. Therefore, it is important to take action as early as possible.
Allergic diseases
With allergies, red spots may appear on the face, which are often accompanied by rashes on various parts of the body:
- neck;
- breasts;
- hands;
- stomach;
- legs.
The reasons for the appearance of such spots can be varied. Often, rashes go away immediately after the negative impact on the body is eliminated. In children, allergic rashes appear after eating a lot of sweets.
