Terzhinan during pregnancy as an effective remedy in the fight against vaginal microflora disorders

During pregnancy, due to hormonal changes and while taking various medications, the balance of intimate microflora may be disrupted. This often leads to thrush, bacterial vaginosis and other problems. In addition to discomfort, thrush and bacterial vaginosis during pregnancy pose a threat to the fetus, because the infection can spread and rise higher. Terzhinan candles will help stop the development of these problems.

For a positive effect, treatment must be started immediately, as soon as the first symptoms appear, you must consult a doctor so that he can prescribe the appropriate treatment. In this case, only local treatment will be effective, and there will be no need to take pills. A few days with Terzhinan and you will be back to normal.

The drug is prescribed for:

  • mycosis;
  • bacterial vaginitis;
  • trichomoniasis;
  • thrush;
  • mixed vaginitis;
  • bacterial vaginosis;
  • mixed genital tract infections.

In the first trimester, as with any other medications, Terzhinan should be prescribed with caution, as there is a risk of miscarriage.

That is why during this period it is strictly prescribed by the doctor, if there are indications. In the second and third trimester, the risks are much lower, but you still shouldn’t self-medicate. In the third trimester of pregnancy, Terzhinan suppositories can be prescribed in the last week for preventive purposes, to prepare the birth canal, to reduce to zero the risks that the child may become infected with candidiasis or something else.

Compound

Active ingredients: ternidazole - 200 mg, neomycin sulfate - 100 mg (65,000 IU), nystatin - 100,000 IU, prednisolone sodium metasulfobenzoate 4.7 mg ( prednisolone 3 mg).
In addition to the active ingredients, the Terzhinan vaginal tablet includes: wheat starch (Amylum tritici), colloidal silicon dioxide (Silicii dioxydum colloidale), sodium starch (type A; Natrii amylum), magnesium stearate (Magnesium stearate), lactose (Lactose).

Use of the drug for different periods

Gestational ageIndications for useContraindications
First trimesterIncreased white blood cells, thrush. After doctor's appointment. When the symptoms are mild and the disease does not threaten the health of the expectant mother and baby, doctors suggest waiting to treat infectious diseases until the second trimester. Strictly after a doctor’s prescription, since any medications in the first trimester must be taken with caution.
Second trimesterDuring pregnancy, Terzhinan is prescribed to get rid of germs, bacteria and fungi when severe itching, burning, and swelling occur.In the 2nd trimester, only individual intolerance or allergic reaction to components is taken into account.
Third trimesterThe drug is prescribed for infection, as well as to normalize the vaginal microflora and restore the mucous membrane and epithelium. It is also prescribed for treating the birth canal to avoid infection of the baby with candidiasis. Almost everything is kept to a minimum, since the nervous system has already formed. Therefore, the prescription is determined by the doctor individually, as throughout the entire pregnancy.

For the treatment of vaginitis

Discharge and other consequences

Sometimes, when Terzhinan suppositories are used during pregnancy, a woman may be frightened by the appearance of discharge. It is necessary to determine the reasons why this happens. This usually does not have negative consequences. It's all about the candles themselves. They have characteristics and when inserted into the vagina they begin to dissolve under the influence of heat.

The mucous membrane absorbs the main part, the rest comes out. That is why part of the drug may come out during the next day after use. This is a normal process and is the norm. And it happens when using vaginal suppositories or when using rectal suppositories. There are no other reasons for the appearance of yellow discharge.

Sometimes a woman may experience slight discomfort after using candles. It can be expressed in the form of a slight burning sensation and irritation on the skin. In this case, it is necessary to consult a specialist; before this, the pregnant woman should stop taking terzhinan. This happens when a woman has sensitive mucous membranes or is allergic to the components of the drug.

In any case, all side effects are expressed in a local reaction. It happens that the reason is that the candle was entered incorrectly. Some women have increased vulnerability of the vagina; if the painful sensation passes quickly, there is no need to stop treatment.

If a double dose of the medicine enters the body, its components can cause poisoning of the body and harm the unborn child. When taken orally, the drug may penetrate the placenta to the baby. It is not yet recommended to take Terzhinan in the 1st trimester; it is better to wait until the 16th week of pregnancy (unless there is an urgent need and the doctor does not insist on taking the drug).

There will be discharge after use

There cannot be an overdose of the drug, since it is not absorbed into the blood. This is why increasing concentration is impossible. With an increased dose, the condition for which you had to take the drug may worsen. The reaction may be ambiguous, the symptoms may stop, but they may also intensify. In this case, you need to remove the suppository and contact a gynecologist.

Contraindications are limited only to individual intolerance and allergies. The action of terzhinan does not extend beyond the vaginal mucosa. In any case, taking the drug should be under the supervision of a specialist; he will select the drug, taking into account the characteristics of the condition and your body.

Features of the drug use

The instructions for terzhinan say that the drug must be used at night. A woman during pregnancy should insert the tablet (before using it, it must be kept in warm water for at least 30 seconds) deep into the vagina once a day. Before going to bed, the best time is when a woman can lie quietly and not move, which will facilitate normal absorption of the drug. If you use suppositories during the day, after administration, you must lie motionless for at least 10-15 minutes. Usually the duration of treatment is 10 days. If the expectant mother has candidal vaginitis, the doctor can extend the course to 20 days.

The peculiarities of using terzhinan in the early stages before the 16th week of pregnancy are that the first trimester is always dangerous for taking medications and, if there are any pathologies, you should follow the recommendations of a specialist. But one cannot ignore inflammatory processes. In special cases, the specialist prescribes an individual treatment regimen; you will need to follow his recommendations. Because infection can lead to premature birth or termination of pregnancy.

Each woman has an individual treatment regimen

In the 2nd trimester there are fewer dangers and restrictions than in the 1st and 3rd trimesters. There are major prohibitions on the use of antibiotics, but terzhinan contains them in small quantities. Therefore, the medicine is safe for a pregnant woman and baby. The dosage remains normal, in the absence of any discomfort.

In the 3rd trimester of pregnancy, approaching the time of birth, there is no need to put a lot of stress on the body. This applies to the use of terzhinan, other drugs, as well as physical and emotional stress. Until the last month, the dosage remains normal. At any time, you cannot use the medicine yourself, only after consultation with a specialist.

Reviews from women

At 20 weeks of pregnancy, an operation was performed, the cervix was sutured due to the threat of miscarriage (isthmic-cervical insufficiency was discovered). After it, in order to avoid bacterial complications, I was prescribed a course of antibiotic injections. Then white discharge started and I was diagnosed with thrush. The doctor prescribed Terzhinan tablets, I doubted whether they could be taken during pregnancy. However, I completed the prescribed course, after a week the itching and discharge disappeared. After the examination, the doctor confirmed that everything had passed. There were no more similar problems.

At 30 weeks of pregnancy, the next smear examination revealed signs of bacterial vaginosis. The gynecologist prescribed a course of taking Terzhinan suppositories (1 tablet for 7 days), then for prevention 2 times a week. At first I was confused by the discharge after using Terzhinan, but then I was reassured that it was normal, just a suppository. At 37 weeks of pregnancy, a repeated smear examination revealed no pathologies. The baby was born healthy.

At 39 weeks, I started having frequent contractions and was hospitalized. At the first examination, she was diagnosed with thrush. The mucous membrane was treated with antiseptics. There were at least 4 hours left before the birth, so the doctor introduced a vaginal tablet of terzhinan, as they explained to me, so that the baby would not become infected during childbirth. Everything went well, there was no infection, the child is healthy.

About the author : Borovikova Olga

Terzhinan for thrush is one of the most commonly used drugs. It eliminates the inflammatory process and unpleasant symptoms in a short time and has virtually no side effects.

pharmachologic effect

Terzhinan is a drug from the group of combined antimicrobial, antifungal and antiseptic drugs used in gynecological practice.

The physiological effect and pharmacological properties of the drug are determined by the activity of the active components included in its composition. During treatment with Terzhinan, pronounced:

  • trichomonacid;
  • antibacterial;
  • antifungal;
  • anti-inflammatory effects.

Expert opinion about the drug

Many doctors are inclined to believe that the use of Terzhinan during pregnancy is an effective method of treating thrush, vaginitis and various diseases of the female genital area. Moreover, the product is absolutely safe for both the pregnant woman and the fetus.

According to the instructions for use, the use of Terzhinan in the 2nd and 3rd trimester of pregnancy is carried out only for compelling reasons, for example, if there is a threat of infection of the fetus when the cervix begins to dilate or during delivery.

There is an opinion that Terzhinan affects female hormonal levels, dramatically changing them, which can negatively affect the course of pregnancy. This has not been scientifically proven, but if there are contraindications, you should refrain from using the drug.

Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

ternidazole, which is part of Terzhinan, is aimed at the death of Trichomonas . In addition, it provokes the death of anaerobic microorganisms and, in particular, is active against facultative anaerobes of the genus Gardnerella.

Neomycin is an antibiotic from the aminoglycoside . The mechanism of its action is associated with the ability to irreversibly disrupt protein synthesis in the cells of pathogenic microorganisms .

By suppressing protein synthesis , neomycin causes disturbances in the transcription of the genetic code and provokes the death of microbial cells . It has been experimentally proven that aerobic bacteria : corynebacteria (C. amycolatum), listeria (Listeria), as well as methicillin -sensitive Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA).

In addition, it was found that gram-negative bacteria are also neomycin , including Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa), which is usually resistant to the action of this antibiotic .

Nystatin is an antimycotic agent from the group of polyene antibiotics . By binding to ergosterol contained in the membranes of fungal cells , it causes their damage and thereby provokes the death of fungi.

Nystatin only affects eukaryotes . Fungi belonging to the genus Candida are sensitive to it, including strains of Candida albicans and Candida glabrata.

Prednisolone is a glucocorticosteroid drug . When applied topically, its therapeutic activity is determined by its anti-inflammatory , antiallergic and antiexudative effects. The latter is due to the vasoconstrictor effect of prednisolone .

The excipients included in vaginal tablets ensure the integrity of the vaginal epithelial tissue in various infectious and inflammatory diseases , and also maintain pH balance within the physiological norm.

The pharmacokinetic characteristics of Terzhinan have not been studied, which is due to the low systemic absorption of this drug.

Video: Description of the drug Terzhinan

Terzhinan - vaginal suppositories. Experts prescribe this drug for vaginitis (inflammation of the vaginal mucosa), which was caused by various infections and bacteria. When a girl is pregnant, she often develops immunodeficiency, which is why experts prescribe Terzhinan.

Women in an interesting position are susceptible to infectious diseases. Those diseases that were latent and did not cause any special problems under normal conditions became more active due to pregnancy. This occurs due to the fact that the vaginal microflora undergoes changes, like the entire body as a whole.

The drug is prescribed for the treatment of vaginitis, which is caused by the sensitivity of microorganisms to the substance. Therefore, the main indications for use:

  • bacterial vaginosis;
  • bacterial vaginitis;
  • mycosis;
  • mixed genital tract infections;
  • vaginal trichomoniasis;
  • vaginitis, frolicking thanks to fungi of the genus Cand >

It is also prescribed for prophylaxis before surgical interventions, childbirth, and abortion.

Examined by a specialist

Taking into account the fact that during pregnancy a favorable environment develops for the development of candidiasis, vulvovaginitis and bacterial vaginosis, specialists need to carefully select a drug for treatment. That is why the main thing a doctor looks at when choosing terzhinan during pregnancy is the safety of the medicine for the expectant mother and baby.

It contains ingredients that together can prevent relapses. These are antifungals and antiseptics or antibiotics.

Indications for use: what Terzhinan treats and when it is advisable to prescribe it

Indications for the use of vaginal tablets are infectious diseases of the female external genitalia , caused by the entry and active activity of pathogenic microorganisms .

So, vaginal pills, what are they for? The medicine is prescribed to women who have been diagnosed with:

  • vaginitis , provoked by banal pyogenic microflora ;
  • chronic recurrent colpitis (nonspecific vaginitis);
  • vaginal dysbiosis;
  • trichomonas vaginitis;
  • vaginitis caused by the activity of the fungi Candida albicans;
  • vaginitis of mixed origin.

Terzhinan is also often prescribed as a prophylactic agent to prevent the development of vaginitis in women who are undergoing minor and major surgical interventions in the pelvic .

In particular, the medicine is used before childbirth, the procedure of surgical abortion , diathermocoagulation (it is advisable to administer tablets both before and after the procedure), contrast X-ray examination of the uterine cavity and the patency of the fallopian tubes ( metrosalpingography ), before the installation of intrauterine contraceptives and after this procedure and etc..

Terzhinan is also used as a means of preventing complications of antibacterial therapy .

The use of Terzhinan suppositories for ureaplasmosis

Despite the fact that the active growth of ureaplasmosis is most often associated with malfunctions of the immune system , treatment with immunomodulatory drugs does not always achieve the desired result.

In this situation, they resort to prescribing special antibacterial agents or antibiotics . Very often, for ureaplasma , doctors recommend Terzhinan, which acts on a wide range of pathogenic microorganisms and provides a pronounced anti-inflammatory effect .

A valuable property of the drug is that, while provoking the death of microbes and fungi , it does not disturb the natural microflora of the vagina.

Terzhinan for thrush

Terzhinan is recommended for the treatment of women whose thrush is accompanied by suspected secondary inflammation and/or infection with secondary microflora .

In addition, the use of Terzhinan is resorted to in cases where the symptoms are so pronounced that they should be stopped as quickly as possible.

In some cases, the drug is indicated as a substitute for complex therapy if previous treatment with other antifungal agents was ineffective.

Reviews of suppositories for thrush left by patients and practicing gynecologists suggest that Terzhinan successfully cures fungal infection without causing the development of unwanted side reactions.

Can it be used during pregnancy?

Pregnant women should receive treatment under the supervision of a specialist. The doctor assesses the patient’s condition during periodic examinations and based on the results of laboratory tests. Terzhinan for thrush during pregnancy and for the treatment of other infectious diseases of the genital organs is prescribed according to the same system as for women who are not expecting a baby. Having a local effect, the drug practically does not penetrate into the blood, so it is not considered dangerous to the fetus, but only in the later stages of gestation.

Terzhinan in early pregnancy

When using Terzhinan vaginally during pregnancy, the active components enter the bloodstream in small quantities. In the first three months of bearing a child, using the drug is strictly prohibited. This is a period of active formation of the internal organs and systems of the baby’s body, and the components that the medicine contains can cause congenital pathologies. To suppress infections in the first trimester, it is recommended to use more gentle means.

In the 2nd trimester

For pregnant women in the second trimester, restrictions on the use of a number of medications are lifted, but antibiotics are not included in this list. Terzhinan contains components that inhibit the activity of microorganisms, but it is approved for use. The drug is available in the form of vaginal tablets, so the amount of substances that can penetrate the blood will be small and at this stage of the baby’s development they will not cause harm.

In the 3rd trimester

Terzhinan and pregnancy in the third trimester are compatible. This is a very effective drug used for the treatment and prevention of infectious inflammation. The indications for prescribing Terzhinan during long-term pregnancy include treatment of the birth canal immediately before the birth of the child in order to protect the baby from infection during the birth process.

Side effects

Terzhinan quite rarely provokes side effects. Since suppositories are used topically, their constituent components are absorbed into the systemic circulation in very small concentrations.

Therefore, in most reported cases, they provoked exclusively local reactions, which were expressed in the form of allergy symptoms , burning, tingling, itching, pain and irritation at the site of drug administration.

Systemic effects during treatment with the drug occur in isolated cases. A possible reaction to the use of glucocorticosteroids (and, in particular, to prednisolone atrophic processes in the mucous membrane may also occur in some patients .

Contraindications and side effects

The itching and burning mentioned above have a dual meaning and can occur as a side effect of the drug. When using Terzhinan, a woman should be very careful and be able to distinguish between benign and non-benign itching.

So, we have already determined that discomfort means the onset of the drug’s action and the body’s normal reaction to the process of suppressing the infection. In this case, the burning and itching are tolerable and appear 10-15 minutes after insertion of the suppository.

But the same sensations are experienced by a woman suffering from individual intolerance to the components of Terzhinan. We conventionally called this itching substandard; its main difference from benign is the immediate manifestation after insertion of the suppository and the high degree of burning, which is colloquially called unbearable.

Terzhinan suppositories, instructions for use (Method and dosage)

Instructions for use of Terzhinan recommend inserting vaginal tablets deep into the vagina, one once a day, every day for ten days.

Before inserting the tablet into the vagina, it should be immersed in water for about 30 seconds (or held in a wet hand for about two minutes). If the tablet is administered during the day rather than in the evening, you should lie down for at least ten minutes after administration.

The optimal time for the procedure is evening. This is due to the fact that in the morning after the administration of Terzhinan, a yellowish discharge may appear, which is normal when undergoing a course of treatment with the drug.

If the goal of treatment is to normalize the imbalance of microflora in the vagina and relieve symptoms of inflammation , then the duration of treatment, depending on the clinical picture and the doctor’s prescription, is from six to ten days.

If the reason for using the drug is thrush , the course of therapy is increased to 20 days. Three days after its completion, it is recommended to undergo a re-examination and take tests, which will either confirm complete recovery or indicate the need for a repeat course.

During pregnancy, the dose and duration of treatment are determined by the attending physician depending on the clinical situation.

Is it possible to use suppositories during menstruation?

Very often, patients who are indicated for treatment with Terzhinan wonder whether these pills can be used during menstruation. In the instructions for the drug, the manufacturer indicates that menstruation is not an indication for stopping treatment.

Using Terzhinan for thrush

If you are suffering from thrush, then Terzhinan suppositories will help to cope with the existing problem, as it is a fairly effective remedy with a wide spectrum of action. It can be used during conception and pregnancy, as it is completely safe for women and children. However, many people wonder why it is necessary to keep suppositories in water before inserting them. Also, some complain that this product partially comes out of the vagina, and are also wondering what to do about it.

Taking Nurofen during pregnancy: 1st trimester

To prevent this from happening, the treatment procedure should be carried out before bedtime, as this guarantees:

  • Better healing effect;
  • Good absorption of the drug;
  • Minimum side effects.

Terzhinan successfully copes with thrush, since it is an effective medicine that helps to cope with acute thrush, and is also relevant for the correction of a chronic disease.

special instructions

The results of studies of the effectiveness of the components of the drug Terzhinan demonstrated that the concentrations of the active components in this drug for local therapy (but not for oral administration) are higher than the toxic concentrations that determine the development of immunity to the antibacterial component .

Under such conditions, it is assumed that the activity of strains of the infectious agent that are theoretically resistant to the active substance will be suppressed by its high concentrations.

In addition, it is very likely that high concentrations of all active components of Terzhinan can have a synergistic (enhancing effect of each other) effect on pathogenic microflora , which, in terms of its spectrum of action, is much wider than that of each individual active component.

It should be remembered that drugs containing nystatin intended for intravaginal use may damage latex contraceptives.

Considering that the active components of Terzhinan can potentially be slightly absorbed into the systemic circulation , it should be remembered that when using systemic glucocorticosteroids in patients diagnosed with osteoporosis , arterial hypertension and heart failure , supervision by specialists in the appropriate field is required.

Specialist supervision is also required for existing or history of peptic ulcers , tuberculosis , glaucoma , hypothyroidism , serious emotional disorders, myopathy provoked by the use of glucocorticosteroids , liver failure , epilepsy , diabetes mellitus , recent myocardial infarction .

Terzhinan is an effective remedy for women. What about for men?

Gynecologists constantly remind us that all infectious and inflammatory diseases for which Terzhinan is indicated must be eliminated from both the woman and the man. To do this, both partners must undergo a course of treatment with antibacterial drugs .

Neglecting this point risks the fact that all the unpleasant symptoms that appear with a particular disease will return. It is also recommended to abstain from sex for the entire period of treatment, but some doctors sometimes still allow partners to have a normal sex life.

The main conditions are the mandatory use of a condom and the complete absence of any side effects from the reproductive system (for both women and men).

For example, some women may experience a strong burning sensation during sexual intercourse (or some time after it), while complaints from men are more often associated with unpleasant sensations and some discomfort.

In any of these cases, the optimal solution is to abstain from sexual activity until the course of treatment is completed. It is important to remember that sexual intercourse must occur only before the next evening vaginal tablet is administered (not after!).

Does it affect the fetus and placenta?

The advantage of the presented drug Terzhinan is that its composition is characterized by low absorption rates and therefore has a minimal, negative effect on the fetus itself at all stages of pregnancy. It is for this reason that it is often prescribed by doctors in the treatment of fungal and infectious diseases of the reproductive system.

To summarize, we can summarize the following. Even though Terzhinan is classified as an antibiotic, it is often prescribed for the treatment of fungal and infectious diseases affecting the genitourinary system of a pregnant woman, without fear of a negative effect on the fetus, its formation, growth and development.

Terzhinan's analogs

Many patients, having received a prescription for the drug from a doctor, try to find a cheaper alternative to Terzhinan.

Currently Terzhinan has no analogues. For women diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis or vaginitis , a number of drugs may be prescribed, for example: Neotrizol , Polygynax or Meratin Combi .

Despite the fact that they are similar in action to Terzhinan, the latter is unique in its composition and ability to have a complex effect on inflammatory and infectious processes affecting the mucous membrane of the female external genital organs .

The average price of analogues of Terzhinan candles varies from 350 to 700 rubles.

Which is better: Terzhinan or Polygynax?

The effect exerted by the drug Polygynax is identical to the effect exerted by Terzhinan. However, studies aimed at comparatively assessing the activity of the components of these two drugs in in vitro models showed that Terzhinan, unlike Polygynax , has no effect on MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus), streptococci and enterococci . At the same time, it showed great activity against Gardnerella vaginalis (G. vaginalis).

Which is better: Hexicon or Terzhinan? Terzhinan or Penotran?

Both of these drugs have a similar effect to Terzhinan, but differ from the latter in composition.

That is, the active ingredients of each of these drugs may exhibit different activity against the same microorganisms . Consequently, only the attending physician can decide which drug is better and which will be less effective in each specific case.

Indications

Terzhinan is prescribed to a pregnant woman by her attending physician. Self-medication with this safe drug is excluded, since the gestation period requires a special approach to any kind of therapy. Accurate diagnosis and proper treatment are the two most important factors in ensuring the continuation of pregnancy and the birth of a healthy child.

If the diagnosis is not very reassuring for the pregnant woman, if a urogenital infection is detected, the woman is prescribed Terzhinan.

As a rule, the appointment occurs when diagnosing the following diseases:

  • candidiasis (thrush);
  • trichomoniasis;
  • mycosis;
  • bacterial vaginosis;
  • vaginal trichomoniasis;
  • mixed vaginitis.

Reviews about Terzhinan

In their reviews of Terzhinan suppositories, almost all women note that the main advantages of this drug are that the latter is very easy to use, accessible (Terzhinan tablets are relatively inexpensive medicines), in the vast majority of cases well tolerated and extremely rarely provokes the development of complications and unwanted side reactions.

If we talk about the effectiveness of the drug for thrush , then reviews of Terzhinan on the forums allow us to conclude that this drug has established itself as an effective and safe remedy that allows you to quickly cure chronic thrush .

Reviews of Terzhinan during pregnancy and breastfeeding indicate that very often this drug turns out to be an effective remedy (even in cases where other drugs did not help solve the problem).

Negative reviews are mainly associated with hypersensitivity reactions to the components of the drug.

Some women also write that they began to experience spotting after taking one or more Terzhinan tablets. Gynecologists assure that this phenomenon has nothing to do with the use of the drug and to establish the cause of its origin it is necessary to undergo additional examination.

Terzhinan is used even by radical pregnant women

Is it possible to find an effective remedy during pregnancy, when infections “attack” a woman, and the list of effective drugs to suppress them is very limited? In this case, experts recommend using Terzhinan suppositories (they are also called vaginal tablets).

The topical drug is used by the majority of pregnant women, including expectant mothers who are radically opposed to all medications.

The reason for non-acceptance of drugs is understandable - women are very concerned about the consequences of using drugs for the fetus. But, on the other hand, improper treatment or complete lack of therapy in the presence of a urogenital infection can lead to even more negative consequences. And here you have to choose the lesser evil.

Every woman understands that in case of a serious illness it is impossible to get by with chamomile decoction, therefore, in order to save the baby, she decides to use Terzhinan with its “terrible” composition.

By the way, by and large, there is nothing wrong with the composition, despite the presence of an antibacterial component (how did you want to get rid of harmful bacteria?). The whole point of therapy with vaginal tablets is the local effect of the drug on the site of infection - no absorption, no penetration through the placenta.

Comparison with polygynax

One of the well-known analogues of Terzhinan is the vaginal capsules Polizhinaks. They are also often prescribed to patients to treat thrush or other fungal infections in the body. In order to determine which is better Polygynax or Terzhinan, it is necessary to consider several aspects:

  • Compound. Both capsules and tablets contain the antifungal agent nystacin and the antibacterial agent neomycin. But if Terzhinan contains two more components, namely ternidazole and prednisolone, then Polygynax contains only one - polymyxin.

An additional advantage of the capsules is the content of dimethylpolysiloxane. This substance has a gel-like structure, allowing the active components to reach the most inaccessible areas;

  • Use during your cycle. Both drugs can be used during menstruation, which allows you not to interrupt treatment therapy and get the maximum effect from taking them;
  • Ease of use. Both drugs are inserted into the vagina, but the capsules do not require prior wetting. But it will be difficult and unpleasant to administer dry tablets without prior preparation;
  • Side effects. In both cases, a small number of possible negative reactions of the body are noted. But if when using Terzhinan they are limited to mild itching and burning, then after Polygynax redness and swelling in the genital area may be added to these factors.

Both drugs are quite effective in treating thrush due to the neomycin they contain, so they can be used with equal success. If the cause of the inflammatory process is bacteria of the genus Gardenerella and Trichomonas, then it is better to give preference to Terzhinan, which contains ternidazole. If during the tests pathogenic microorganisms that are not related to Gardenerella and Trichomonas, and also not sensitive to neomycin, were identified, then it is worth starting treatment with Polygynax, because it includes a broad-spectrum antibiotic, polymyxin. For the purpose of preliminary sanitation of the birth canal and prevention of vaginitis preference, as a rule, is given to Terzhinan.
