FAQ
Does the Day Calculator take into account the number of days in leap years?
Yes, of course it does. It is not just the number of days in a year that is taken into account, but also the number of days in each individual month. This can be easily checked by experimenting a little with the Day Calculator settings.
Historical facts
Due to the imperfection of the Julian calendar, the Italian astronomer Lilius Aloysius created a new version of chronology. Its difference was that only those divisible by 400 were leap years at the end of the century.
The new version of the calendar was adopted on October 15, 1582 by Pope Gregory XIII and was called Gregorian in honor of his name. Due to inaccuracies in the previous Julian calendar, 10 extra days were created. Therefore, the transition to a new chronology skipped this extra period of time.
Holidays
The calculator can calculate, add and subtract both calendar days and working days. Official non-working holidays are:
- January 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 — New Year holidays
- January 7 - Orthodox Christmas
- February 23 – Defender of the Fatherland Day
- March 8 - International Women's Day
- May 1 - Spring and Labor Day
- May 9 - Victory Day
- June 12 — Russia Day
- November 4 — National Unity Day
If a holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, it is moved to the next working day. But sometimes the weekend is moved to a completely different place on the calendar. For example, Saturday and Sunday that fall on the New Year holidays may be moved to May in order to extend the May holidays.
When calculating days, the calculator takes into account both official holiday dates and all transfers.
The incubation period of coronavirus has reached 38 days! | Eurasia Diary - ednews.net
Signs of the COVID-2019 coronavirus appeared in a Chinese resident 27 days after infection, the People's Daily newspaper reported on Saturday, February 22, citing local authorities.
Moreover, according to media reports, a similar case was previously recorded when symptoms of coronavirus were detected in a sick person only after 38 days. This suggests that the incubation period may last more than two weeks from the moment of infection.
A native of the Shennongjia district of the Chinese province of Hubei, surnamed Jiang, returned from the city of Ezhou on January 24, and on February 19 he was diagnosed with symptoms of the disease - fever and weakness. A diagnostic examination the next day revealed that the patient had COVID-19.
Jiang's younger sister, in whose house he lived for three days during his trip, was diagnosed with coronavirus on February 2.
Chinese authorities, taking into account new information, recommended residents and tourists in areas near Wuhan to self-isolate in order to reduce the likelihood of infection.
An outbreak of a new type of coronavirus, COVID-2019, was recorded in Wuhan, China at the end of December. Later the infection spread to other countries. As of February 21, the number of victims of the disease in China alone reached 2,247 people, confirmed cases of infection - more than 76 thousand.
On February 14, representatives of the World Health Organization noted that in the event of an unfavorable scenario, up to 66% of the world's population could become infected with coronavirus.

Royal family. Last 38 days. June 8, 1918
Starting from May 26 (June 8), 1918, strange gaps began to appear in the Tsar’s diary entries. Emperor Nicholas II, who kept his diary punctually all his life, did not write anything in it on May 26, 30, 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, 11, 13, 15, 20, 22, 24, 26, 27 and 29 June. However, there is no information about the Emperor’s illness or any extraordinary events that could cause him to stop making diary entries. The Empress’s diary, which she continued to carefully keep, does not provide any explanation.
On May 26 (June 8) the Empress wrote down:
There’s a terrible commotion going on around us; we haven’t been allowed to read any newspapers for 3 days now, and there was a lot of noise at night.”
Attempts to explain this “noise” by the impending uprising of “front-line soldiers” under the leadership of officers Rostovtsev and Mamkin are unconvincing.
On June 8, in liberated Samara, the first anti-Bolshevik Russian government was formed - the Committee of Members of the Constituent Assembly (KOMUCH). It issued the following appeal:
Citizens! Bolshevik power has been overthrown. The Bolshevik government cowardly abandoned the city. The government that betrayed Russia to the German bayonet, disgraced the country before all peoples with its treacherous separate peace, branded the Motherland with the shameful name of “traitors”, shamefully, with lackey servility, carried out all German orders, seized power in the country with the bayonet and violence against the will of the people, encroaching on this will represented by the Constituent Assembly, has now been swept away by the same weapons. The revolution we carried out thanks to the approach of the valiant Czechoslovak troops to Samara was carried out in the name of the great principle of democracy and independence of Russia.”
By his order, KOMUCH announced the creation of a People's Army led by a headquarters of three persons: Lieutenant Colonel N.A. Galkin and two representatives of KOMUCH - the Socialist Revolutionaries B.K. Fortunatov and V. Bogolyubov (the latter was soon replaced by V.I. Lebedev). Lieutenant Colonel V.O. Kappel voluntarily took command of the first Druzhina.
General A.I. Denikin recalled that in KOMUCH “a democratic veil covered a new dictatorship - the party of social revolutionaries who had undivided power.”

As the General of the People's Army P.P. Petrov admitted, the order of the “time of Kerensky” reigned in KOMUCH. The fact that the leaders of KOMUCH belonged to the Social Revolutionaries leaves no doubt about the hostility of its leadership towards Emperor Nicholas II. They had no plans for his release, much less his restoration to the throne. Obviously, the liberation of the Royal Family and its appearance on the territory controlled by KOMUCH was an extremely undesirable event for the latter. The presence of the Tsar and the Heir in the active army, which included many Cossacks and peasants, could easily give the entire movement a monarchical character. For KOMUCH and his Entente patrons, the death of the Tsar was preferable to his release. Therefore, the statement about the danger of the liberation of the Royal Family by the “White Guards,” which was an axiom under Soviet rule, is a deliberate lie.
The weather on June 8 was cloudy but warm. It rained during the day, which is why none of the Family went out for a walk. The Tsarevich felt even better. However, Doctor V.N. Derevenko did not come; Avdeev explained this by the presence of scarlet fever in his house.
The Emperor sat at his son’s bedside all evening. After 21 o'clock he was taken to bed.
There were 38 days left before the murder.
How to count the 9th and 40th days after death and what do they mean?
To calculate the 9th and 40th days in the Orthodox tradition, the day of death is also taken. “There is a legend about a conversation between St. Macarius the Great and an angel. It says that until the 3rd day the soul remains on earth after death, from the 3rd to the 9th it is in heaven, from the 9th to 40th in hell. Well, on the 40th day the fate of a person’s soul is determined: whether he will go to heaven or hell. Therefore, this date is considered especially important; at this time it is imperative to pray and commemorate the deceased,” said Father Dmitry.

In Birds of Passage, directed by Afghan director Abdul Latif, we see the present day of a divided, tormented country; it tells the tragic story of a peasant family, projected onto the tragedy of the entire people. And although the first shot, which ended the life of the groom in the midst of the wedding, was heard not because the shooter belonged to the opposing camp - the bullet was directed by the anger of the rejected applicant, but this shot turned out to be only the first link in the chain of events that led to the complete death of the family, they were intertwined with a nationwide massacre, with the devastation of everyday life agitated by the events, with the rampant primitive, cruel and unencumbered by any political slogans banditry, for which these mountain steeps were famous in former times.
The film does not directly depict military battles, but from individual touches, from documentary interruptions that captured fierce night skirmishes, from the immensity of the ammunition depot, we can imagine the scale of the Afghan tragedy.
There is no direct political dialogue in the film, only once the head of the family turns to his eldest son, the commander of the “field” unit, with the question: who needs this bloody massacre? He answers briefly: we are waging a holy war, and sets off with a detachment on a route from which no one will return. How many other young men in the world sincerely imagine that they are waging holy wars, although in fact no holiness is found in them, thousands and even millions of people lay down their lives because of someone’s exorbitant ambitions, political or selfish aspirations and other things that have nothing to do with the true interests of the people.
Personal passions, strengthened by the resonance of social passions, fell on the heads of people, destroying the right and the wrong, men and women, old and young, no, above all the young, beautiful, full of strength, they should live and live on the land of their ancestors, dance at weddings, giving birth to children, dragging sacks of grain over mountain slopes, and not dirty green boxes filled with explosives.
Not in open text, not in speech-arguments addressed to reason and conscience, but in its entire structure, the image itself, the broken destinies of the heroes, the film protests against the fratricidal war, which brought only grief, suffering, and unnecessary sacrifices to the Afghans. Not a war to the bitter end, which leaves behind a bare desert, but peace, national reconciliation, that’s what this land needs.
The picture begins with a village wedding. I don’t know whether such complex and magnificent rituals have really been preserved in the mountain villages of Afghanistan, or whether nowadays only cinema is able to recreate wonderful ancient customs? But the spectacle itself is magnificent, it is inventively staged and beautifully filmed, some episodes are full of amazing expression, for example, the dance of men with rifles. But these same shots initially set us up for the expectation of decorative theatricality, familiar to us from many paintings of Eastern origin (including domestic ones). And when the fatal shot is fired, then in addition there is a suspicion that we are in for a melodramatic story of family revenge or something like that. But the suspicion does not last long, we understand that the director needed the long, sublime beginning for counterpoint, for a sharp contrast: from the unclouded fullness of people’s life to the joyless desolation of war. He will not return to ethnography or melodrama again.
However, the atmosphere of majestic theatricality in the film remains, but this is not a drawback, but a feature, a style. In accordance with European aesthetic postulates, theatricality in cinema is usually condemned. But should these settings be mandatory for everyone? What is inappropriate should be condemned. And here the solemnity of the huge stage is more than appropriate against the backdrop of harsh, sun-scorched mountains, in the circle of stern, bearded people with difficult destinies.
The work of cameraman Kadir Tahir is structured in the same vein. In other films, the camera pretends that it doesn’t seem to be there, and what happens on the screen happens as if by itself, “like in life.” In “Birds of Passage,” on the contrary, the cameraman constructs every scene, every frame, like a work of classical painting, with a proportionate, complete composition. However, it must be said that all the cinematic components worked synchronously in the film: reliable acting, and a dynamic, ever-evolving plot, which, however, at times approaches the line beyond which it begins to be called “sharp”, but behind one or two With minor exceptions, it stays on it and turns into a cheap action movie.
It’s not a sin for some of our directors to learn from A. Latif, in particular those who undertake the production of films about the fight against the Basmachism, to learn how to make such films without simplifications, without a straightforward distinction between red and white, with sufficient tension of action, with a minimum number of shootouts, with no chases at all...
The pain of Afghanistan is also our pain, the tragedy of the neighboring people is also our tragedy. The day when the Afghan problem will find its final solution and descend on the long-suffering land
A. Latif staged his painting with the intention of bringing this day closer.

A normal pregnancy should last not 9 months, as is officially accepted, but ten
Traditionally, according to Negale's rule, which is used to calculate the date of birth, a person's pregnancy lasts about 40 weeks, or 280 days, from the last menstrual period. A baby born before 37 weeks is considered premature, but after 43 weeks it is considered post-term. However, scientists doubted this.
Experts excluded six cases of premature birth. But even so, the duration of the pregnancies differed by 37 days, reports novostiua.net.
Every year a woman carries her baby 1 day longer. That is, the older the woman in labor, the longer her pregnancy lasts. In addition, it turned out that a woman who was born with a lot of weight will carry her child longer. For every 100 grams of excess weight at birth, you should add 1 day of pregnancy when carrying your own child, reports MyJane.ru.

Naegele Rule is
a method used to calculate the possible date of birth: nine months and seven days are added to the date of the first day of the last menstruation. If a woman's menstrual cycle differs from 28 days, then an amendment is necessary when using this rule. (“Medical Dictionary”).
The average duration of pregnancy from the beginning of the last menstruation to birth is 40 weeks (the so-called “obstetric period”). The use of the obstetric date is more common in medicine, since the date of fertilization is usually difficult to determine.
In obstetrics, a distinction is made between physiological and pathological pregnancy. Normally, any pregnancy ends with the birth act - a child is born, and in the case of a multiple pregnancy - twins (homo- - identical or heterozygous - different).
A woman’s pregnancy is usually divided into so-called “trimesters” (periods of three months), informs wikipedia.org. Accordingly, they talk about the first, second and third trimesters of pregnancy. Each trimester is characterized by certain obstetric features and risks.
Human development begins from the moment a woman's egg is fertilized by a man's sperm. Fertilization is possible during the period of ovulation, when a mature egg is released from the ovary. The ovulation period usually occurs on days 10-16 of the menstrual cycle, but can be greatly shifted. After ovulation, the egg enters the fallopian tube and remains viable for approximately one day. Spermatozoa are capable of fertilization within 2-3 days after ejaculation.
How to count 40 days
From the tenth to the fortieth day the soul remains in hell, and then its fate is decided by God's judgment. All prayers and good memorials that will be said for the deceased during this period will be counted in heaven. It is necessary to pray and ask God for forgiveness for the sins of the deceased.
Starting in the morning, you need to go to the morning church service, pray, and light a candle for the repose. Then you should go to the grave, where you need to leave treats - candy, pastries, cookies, cereal.
A funeral meal is organized at home, which should also not include alcohol and be modest and simple. All those gathered talk about the deceased, remember his actions, and make kind speeches.
There is an old tradition of covering mirrors in the house after death. This is not a mandatory ritual. But if all the mirror surfaces were covered, then on the 9th day the bedspreads are removed everywhere and only the mirror in the room of the deceased is left covered. There the fabric is removed after 40 days.
