Weleda oil for stretch marks during pregnancy - reviews from those who have used the drug

Nastas: Weleda stretch mark oil

Greetings to all ecoholics, and first of all, expectant mothers!

Pregnancy brings with it a lot of changes in the female body, and not all of them are desirable. Having learned that most women experience stretch marks during pregnancy, I decided that I absolutely had to protect myself from this.

Let me start with the fact that even before pregnancy, I already knew what products I would use during it - of course, a series for expectant mothers from the German brand Weleda.

I have known Veleda for a long time, tried most of its products and had unlimited confidence in the brand. She always has excellent product compositions and has European certification, not to mention first-class quality. So I didn’t even doubt the effectiveness of Veleda’s “Oil for the Prevention of Stretch Marks”, but, as it turned out, even an old woman can have a problem.

I couldn’t find a single negative review of it on Ecoholic, am I the only one unlucky or is this some kind of universal conspiracy? Moreover, the oil is in first place in the Weleda product rating! Okay, I'll take the liberty of being the first to write a negative review.

By the way, for some reason I see the name “Oil for stretch marks” almost everywhere, when it is actually “Oil for the prevention of stretch marks.” Do you feel the difference? The product is not intended to combat existing stretch marks; they cannot be eliminated with any oils, only to make them less noticeable. This oil is designed only to prevent the appearance of new ones.

Weleda stretch mark oil - review by Ecoblogger Nastas

I started using this oil almost from the first months of pregnancy (from 12 weeks). I was lucky enough to save money and get a large number of oil samples, which I still use to this day. One sample contains 2 ml, which is enough for me exactly for a day: to apply in the morning and evening. Moreover, as the manufacturer notes, the oil should be applied not only to the stomach, but also to the thighs, buttocks and chest, and not just spread, but a kind of massage in a circular motion. I carefully follow these recommendations.

I have both German samples and already Russified ones. I didn't notice any difference between them. The composition and production are identical, and the product is no different in application.

So that you do not accuse me of being unfounded: I have several of these hefty packs of samples, and I have already used a fair amount of them, which allows me to write a review not from scratch, but after several months of use. And by the way, this shape is much more convenient for travel than a heavy glass bottle.

The full size product comes in a standard 100ml Weledo green glass bottle. I don’t have one, so here’s a photo from the manufacturer’s website:

The price for it is now approximately 1,400 rubles, that is, 14 rubles per 1 ml of oil. Taking into account the fact that I use a 2 ml sample per day, one such bottle will last for 50 days, that is, about 1.5 months, and maintaining skin elasticity costs 28 rubles per day. Not a cheap pleasure, right? Especially if you count how many bottles you will need for the entire duration of pregnancy and plus, as the manufacturer recommends, for another three months after birth. It turns out that in order to avoid stretch marks, you need to use this oil for almost a year!

The composition of the product is 100% natural, and it also has a NATRUE certificate, which leaves no doubt about the quality of the product.

Compound:

Almond Oil, Jojoba Oil, Wheat Germ Oil, Fragrance, Arnica Flower Extract, Limonene*, Linalool*, Citronellol*, Geraniol*, Citral*, Eugenol*, Farnesol*

* from natural essential oils

In the Russian version, for some reason, they did not describe all these components of essential oils, but simply wrote “a mixture of natural essential oils.” But the Weleda website now lists the full lineup.

The main ingredient in the composition is sweet almond oil.

It perfectly relieves irritation, eliminates dryness and roughness of the skin, nourishes, improves its water balance, restores elasticity and smoothes the epidermis.

Jojoba oil is a liquid, oily wax similar to the lipid layer of the skin. The oil is well absorbed and protects the skin from moisture loss without making it greasy.

Wheat germ oil is one of the richest vegetable oils in terms of vitamin E content, which is responsible for maintaining and prolonging the youth of the skin and has a good softening, moisturizing and nourishing effect.

Arnica flower extract supports skin metabolism and has an antimicrobial effect.

Well, why not a magic elixir?

The consistency of the oil is fluid, spreads well over the body and has a bright yellow regular oil color.

“The oil has an essential composition with a delicate aroma of blooming roses and oranges and has an aromatherapy effect.” - the manufacturer assures us, but I only smell arnica, it is frankly herbal, but very pleasant, even better than if it actually smelled of blooming roses.

I often apply the oil after a shower to slightly damp skin. It is perfectly distributed and absorbed, leaving the skin soft, moisturized and feeling as if it is nourished with oils. At first, the skin seems oily, but after a while this goes away and you can put on clothes without fear of leaving greasy stains on them. In general, the feeling after use is the most pleasant, no dry skin.

Well, until now everything sounded so sweet that up until 30 weeks I was absolutely confident in its effectiveness and was convinced that with such oil stretch marks would bypass me, until one day after a shower I saw this:

So suddenly, as if in one day. And all my hopes and aspirations collapsed along with Veleda’s authority in my eyes.

I can't say that I suddenly gained a lot of weight or anything like that. So far during pregnancy I have gained about 10 kg, which is basically the average statistical norm. The belly is big, the fetus is large, someone inside is eating too much

I console myself with the fact that the oil still helps me and without it everything would be much worse

I persistently continue to use it, because it’s scary to imagine what will happen next?

Girls, I am once again convinced of how individual each person’s body is. This oil is surrounded by such a magical aura of a truly miraculous remedy: it reduces stretch marks, prevents new ones, etc. Don’t rely on other people’s experience, everything may be completely different with you, but it didn’t help me. Naturally, I take off apples for this, since it was the stated action that was the main expectation, but it turned out to be a disappointment.

I listen with tears to the words of a friend who smeared her stomach with regular olive oil, and then with periodic regularity, and did not get a single stretch mark. Well, I’m cool, I’m Veleeeeed. I believe I could have had the same result with olive oil. And if there is no difference, why pay more?

Weleda's line of products for expectant mothers includes several products: oil for the prevention of stretch marks, oil for preparing the intimate area for childbirth, and oil for breasts during lactation. I also have the second one in the form of samples, it is recommended to use it from the 34th week, and I have already taken care of the third product in the form of a full-size bottle. Well, I’ll try, I’ll give Veleda a chance to rehabilitate herself in my eyes.

How to remove a flabby belly after childbirth

Stretch marks, unfortunately, are not the only problem that new mothers may face after childbirth.
Since the skin of the abdomen is subjected to the most severe “stress,” this is often the most problematic area for recovery. You need to be prepared that you can only regain tone over time and only in a comprehensive manner. Will help:

  • sports (training is allowed only with the permission of a doctor and under the supervision of a trainer!);
  • proper nutrition;
  • cosmetic procedures for problem areas.

conclusions

In order not to overshadow the joyful period of waiting for the birth of an heir by the appearance of stretch marks, you should remember the golden rule of life, which can be applied in this case - stretch marks during pregnancy are easier to prevent than to treat.

Therefore, to prevent these skin defects, you should rub anti-stretch mark oil into the skin, and it is better that it is natural without chemical additives.

Take care of your health and skin, especially during pregnancy. Post the email address of the article on your social media page so that information about Weleda cosmetic oil is read by as many people as possible. We are waiting for your questions and comments! Goodbye!

Sincerely, Katherine Grimova, mother of a wonderful daughter!

Rating of the best fat products

As mentioned above, choosing the best remedy for stretch marks is an individual matter. It all depends on the composition of the product and the amount of microelements it contains. However, based on reviews, you can make a kind of rating of oils for stretch marks that best cope with their task during pregnancy.

Oil-based cosmetics are suitable for both prevention and daily care:

  1. Bio Oil oil (if used during pregnancy for stretch marks).
  2. Johnson's Baby oil (any type is suitable for stretch marks during pregnancy).
  3. Mustella.

How to remove stretch marks

Unfortunately, getting rid of existing “serious” stretch marks is extremely difficult. You can turn to a radical method - surgery. You can also reduce the appearance of stretch marks by using chemical peels or using products that help even out your skin tone.

It is recommended to “train” the skin to prevent the appearance of stretch marks by carrying out preventive procedures:

  • the use of oils or creams that increase skin elasticity;
  • massage;
  • contrast masks, shower;
  • proper nutrition;
  • drinking enough fluid.
