Miramistin belongs to the group of antiseptics and is a leader among similar drugs in terms of safety and effectiveness. The original drug Miramistin was created as part of the Space Biotechnology program. A team of microbiologists, chemists and doctors worked on it, with the task of producing a new drug that could destroy most pathogens of infectious diseases, maintain its activity on mucous membranes for a long time and “work” in Earth conditions and weightlessness. Miramistin is prescribed quite often for cystitis, since the drug has proven its effectiveness and safety in the complex treatment of urological diseases.
General information about the drug
A pharmaceutical preparation intended for topical use, Miramistin is an excellent antiseptic that is aimed at destroying various pathogens. The medicine is used by both adults and children without age restrictions. In large dosages, Miramistin can cause burns and burning. Store the solution out of reach of small children at room temperature. If properly stored, its shelf life is 3 years and after this time has passed, it is not recommended to use the solution.
The antiseptic "Miramistin" is used to treat purulent wounds and prevent suppuration, eliminate inflammatory diseases of the female reproductive system, prevent chlamydia, syphilis, trichomoniasis and other diseases that are sexually transmitted. The solution treats skin burns, stomatitis, tonsillitis, periodontitis, sinusitis and laryngitis. Miramistin is used for urethritis and urethroprostatitis. Its advantage is the possibility of use during the lactation period and pregnancy.

At what age can children change the spray?
The drug is considered safe for humans, and it should not cause harm to the baby. However, taking into account all aspects of the drug’s influence, according to the instructions, its use is possible only from the age of 6, when the risk of negative consequences is minimized. It is also worth noting that the form of the spray itself imposes restrictions on the use of any drug for children under one year old, since applying the composition under pressure can lead to the development of otitis media due to the structural features of such a young organism.
The product is often used during epidemics and quarantines as a method of disease prevention by applying the composition to the mucous membrane of the throat or nasal cavities. The spray can be used for a runny nose, as part of the treatment of acute respiratory viral infections, to treat inflammation in the oral cavity and damage to the skin on any part of the child’s body.

How is Miramistin injected into the urethra?
For the treatment of urethritis, specialized experts recommend using the pharmaceutical drug Miramistin as a complex treatment. It is worth considering that the healing of this disease depends on its forms, so the therapeutic course should be prescribed exclusively by the attending physician, specialized in urethritis. In addition, the regimen for using Miramistin is different depending on the gender of the patient.
Before starting treatment for the disease, you need to undergo a diagnostic examination and pass the necessary tests. Only after this can an individual course be prescribed. For men and women it ranges from 1 to 3 weeks. For the entire duration of therapy, you should abstain from sex, and also adjust your diet so that it does not contain salty, spicy, fatty and fried foods. Alcohol is also contraindicated for urethritis. It is important to maintain hygiene, change underwear regularly and not share washcloths and towels to avoid infecting other family members.

In the treatment of urethritis in men
Sanitation of the urethra with a solution must be carried out according to a certain scheme.
To cure urethritis in representatives of the stronger sex, the urethra should be sanitized with an antiseptic solution according to the following scheme:
Prepare a 20-cc syringe with a rubber tip. Expose the head of the male genital organ. Place the tip of the syringe and inject the solution into the urethra. Inject the medicine slowly in a volume of 2-3 ml. Remove the tip and wait for the liquid to flow out of the urethra on its own. If necessary repeat the procedure several times.
After washing the anterior section of the urethra, the posterior section can be treated, but this should only be done by a specialized specialist within the walls of the hospital. The doctor will need a 5-10 cc syringe equipped with a rubber nozzle. The patient should lie on his back, lift his back part up and bend his limbs at the knees. The specialist pulls back the head of the reproductive organ and slowly begins to inject an antiseptic into the urethra.

For illness in women
To treat urethritis in females, Miramistin is used in combination with other pharmaceuticals. The solution is injected 2-3 ml into the urethra once or twice a day for 1.5 weeks. The procedure is carried out every other day. If the urinary tract disease is caused by chlamydia, then use an antiseptic exposure solution. The procedure takes 10 minutes and is repeated twice a day for a week.

Directions for use and dosage
A gauze swab is generously soaked in Miramistin solution and applied to the wound or burn, then a bandage is applied. After surgery for the treatment of osteomyelitis, the drug is moistened with a solution through the drainage, then the wound and fistula tracts are treated with tampons soaked in the solution. The above procedure is performed 2-3 times a day for 4-5 days. The drug is effective for active drainage of wounds and suppuration with daily use of a solution in a volume of 1 liter.
The ointment is applied directly to the wound, then a bandage is applied. Gauze swabs with ointment are introduced into the fistula tracts. When treating festering wounds and burn areas in the first stage of the wound process, the drug is used once a day, in the second stage - once every 2-3 days. The required amount of the drug depends on the area of the wound and the degree of suppuration. The duration of treatment is determined by the speed of wound cleansing and healing. When pathogens are localized in deep tissues, Miramistin is used together with antibiotic therapy.
For skin pathologies, the ointment is applied to the affected areas of the skin 2 or more times a day. You can also apply gauze swabs with ointment (1-2 times a day). Miramistin is used until microbiological tests confirm the absence of infection. For extensive forms of fungal skin lesions, in particular generalized rubromycosis, the ointment is used as an adjuvant as part of systemic antifungal treatment. Course duration is 1-1.5 months. In case of onychomycosis, before using the ointment, the horny plates of the nails must be peeled off. To prevent postpartum infection, the vagina is irrigated with the drug 6-7 days before childbirth, during childbirth - after each vaginal examination, and after childbirth - 0.05 liters of solution (a tampon soaked in the solution is inserted into the vagina for 2 hours) within 5 days. When performing a caesarean section, the vagina is irrigated before surgery, during the operation - the inside of the uterus and the incision on it, and after the operation, tampons soaked in 0.05 liters of solution are inserted into the vagina for 2 hours. The procedure is repeated for 7-8 days.
Inflammatory pathologies of female genitalia: daily vaginal insertion of tampons soaked in a solution of the drug, or electrophoresis during flow. 11-15 days.
For urgent prevention of sexually transmitted pathologies: no more than two hours after sexual intercourse, after hygienic treatment of the external genitalia, the solution is generously applied to them with a soaked cotton swab. For men, 1.5-3 ml of solution is injected into the urethra, for women - 1-1.5 ml; After the procedure, you should not empty your bladder for two hours. Women also irrigate the vagina with 5-10 ml of solution for 2-3 minutes.
In complex therapy of inflammation of the urethra and prostate, 2-5 ml of solution is injected into the urethra 1-3 times a day. Course duration is 5-10 days.
For purulent sinusitis, during the puncture the maxillary sinus is washed with Miramistin solution. In case of inflammation of the larynx or palatine tonsils, regularly gargle with a solution of the drug (5-6 times a day). For ear inflammation, 1-2 ml of solution is poured into the external auditory canal.

Miramistin is an excellent and irreplaceable antiseptic. I can’t even imagine how we managed without him in the past! It is even used in gynecology and during childbirth, which indicates its safety. I often used it to disinfect wounds. Miramistin stops infection and stimulates healing. It is also effective in destroying pathogenic bacteria and fungi. It does not cause skin irritation and is completely safe. Effective even against festering wounds and serious burns. I burned my fingers and hands many times in the kitchen. If I managed to quickly apply Miramistin to the burn, then even the blisters did not come out. A friend once complained that her husband had stomatitis. I remembered that the instructions for the drug included dental diseases. They tried it, it helped, and now they use it all the time.
Miramistin is used externally, and most importantly, it is not absorbed through the skin and mucous membranes. I always keep it in my medicine cabinet at home and take it to the dacha - just in case.

I purchased Miramistin as prescribed by a gynecologist after giving birth. According to the instructions, the drug is simply universal. I immediately thought it was just an advertisement, but the product really turned out to be effective. Now I spray my son’s throat with Miramistin solution to prevent acute respiratory diseases. The pediatrician approved such procedures and confirmed that this is truly a universal antiseptic. Miramistin destroys all types of microorganisms. Therefore, it is used in all areas of medicine in which there is a risk of infection. Considering that the drug is convenient and effective in disinfecting wounds and burns, as well as in preventing sexually transmitted diseases, it is necessary in every family. By the way, it’s strange that the can contains only 150 ml of solution - almost half the volume. The first time I wanted to return it, I thought that it had already been used - but, apparently, that’s how it was intended.

When my son was 4 years old, he climbed his hand into the fan. The skin was all torn off, the hand was swollen and blue, the bleeding did not stop. The child was hysterical. We were examined at the hospital and no fractures were found. They said it can be treated at home. I asked to be prescribed some kind of aerosol product so as not to touch the wound. Miramistin was recommended to me. When I read the instructions, I was quite surprised and did not even dare to buy. Such a long list of indications causes mistrust, maybe this is not advertising... But the pharmacist said that the product is good, and it is being sold out quickly. In the end, I was not mistaken. I treated the child’s wounds 3 times a day - the son did not complain, the drug is odorless and does not cause any burning sensations. After 3 days, the wounds were covered with scabs, which gradually began to fall off. The wounds began to itch, the swelling disappeared, the bruise began to fade, and in general it healed much faster than we expected. After just 7-8 days, the child could fully use his hand. They forgot about the tears, the hand no longer hurt. I have not tested Miramistin for other purposes, but I think that this drug is really trustworthy. I advise you to try it, especially since it is inexpensive.

I propose to try my method of treating a disease such as thrush. Let me clarify right away that treatment must be done together with a partner - otherwise everything is useless. We will need household goods. Soap, Miramistin solution (I think it costs about 300 rubles) and a fluconazole tablet.
Here, in fact, is the method: in the morning we wash the household. soap (be sure to use panty liners), in the evening we wash ourselves without soap. After evening hygiene, take a can of Miramistin, insert the spray bottle into the vagina and inject the solution several times. It is better to do this procedure in a horizontal position on your back, because... standing, all the liquid flows out. Then at night we put on underwear with a daily routine. Do this every day for 4-5 weeks. Every 4 weeks we take a fluconazole tablet - it normalizes the vaginal flora. It is not necessary to take fluconazole, but it is still preferable, since soap has an alkaline environment, and this disrupts the acidic environment of the vagina, creating additional conditions for other sexually transmitted diseases. Procedures must be done regularly, without missing a single day. After a month, evaluate your well-being. If in doubt, take another fluconazole tablet, it should help. Of course, everyone's body is different, but I hope this method will help you too.

Previously, I thought that Miramistin was used only in gynecology. As it turns out, it saves you from a number of problems. The pediatrician suggested it to us when my youngest son (then 1 year old) got a sore throat. I sprayed him 4 times a day. The sprayer is very convenient; it irrigates the entire back wall of the pharynx and tonsils. The sore throat went away in three days. The following sore throats, thanks to Miramistin, also disappeared within a maximum of 3 days. It is also extremely important that the drug treats thrush, and it is safe even for infants. Often during childbirth, children pick up candidiasis from their mother. The tongue turns red and a white coating forms. This does not pose anything dangerous, but it is better to be cured immediately. Since candidiasis is a fungal infection, Miramistin works quickly and effectively. You just need to treat your tongue twice a day with a swab soaked in a solution of the drug. And stomatitis is no longer a problem, which is very pleasing, because... Previously, we could not even imagine that it could be cured so quickly and easily - my husband suffered with this problem for a long time until he tried Miramistin.
In general, a universal remedy. It’s a very useful thing to have in your home first aid kit, and when going on a hike or to the dacha, I advise you to take a can just in case.

When my 5-year-old son had a runny nose all year round, we no longer knew who to turn to. We went to all the clinics - no one prescribed anything sensible, they prescribed the same thing. In the end, we got an appointment with an otorhinolaryngologist, who prescribed some medications, incl. miramistin (drip into the nose). I don’t trust unknown medicines, so I decided to try it on myself first. It turned out that it was just an aqueous solution, odorless and colorless. The child started dripping and after a week we forgot about the problems with the nose.
According to the instructions, Miramistin helps against a number of problems, including burns and festering wounds. But I don't risk using it without a doctor's prescription.

I started using Miramistin immediately after giving birth to prevent infection through wounds. Then I discovered that this is a universal and very effective antiseptic. I got rid of exacerbations of thrush only thanks to him. Exacerbations usually occur in spring and autumn, during vitamin deficiency - the immune system weakens, chronic diseases worsen. But now, as soon as thrush makes itself felt, it is enough to irrigate the vagina with Miramistin solution for several days in a row, and the symptoms disappear. True, then it is better to buy special vaginal suppositories to consolidate the resulting effect. But as an ambulance, this drug has no price.
Svetlana, 45 years old, Pskov
This is a truly universal drug against pathogens. When I first saw the list of indications for Miramistin, I was quite surprised. In fact, almost every person needs it.
I use it for the following purposes: • I treat my and my daughter’s throats for colds. It is colorless and odorless, like water, does not cause a burning sensation and has no side effects at all. • I put drops in my nose for rhinitis. It cleanses the nasopharynx and destroys the infection at the same time. • I disinfect wounds. An aerosol is very convenient for this; you can irrigate wounds without touching them. In addition, given the absence of discomfort and side effects, the drug is very convenient for young children. Miramistin can be used instead of iodine and brilliant green, so I advise you to keep it in your home medicine cabinet.
Galina, 51 years old, Donetsk
I always keep a bottle of Miramistin at home, because... he has saved more than once. The first time this drug was prescribed to me by a gynecologist for irrigation against infection. Then my eyes became red and inflamed, most likely it was conjunctivitis. I started putting Miramistin in my eyes. Within two days, the eyes turned white and the inflammation went away. I also used Miramistin to treat wounds and abrasions; it disinfects and heals very well. I read on a medical website that you can also use it to gargle for laryngitis and sore throats - they write that it helps well. In general, I haven’t heard anything bad about it, but from my own experience I can say that the drug is really good.
Kristina, 48 years old, Moscow
I had never even heard of such an antiseptic before. When my eldest daughter began to develop juvenile acne, she, on the advice of a friend, began using Miramistin. As a result, the acne disappeared quite quickly. Now, as soon as something appears on the face, it is immediately treated with Miramistin. I studied the instructions and found something for myself - it seems to be supposed to help with stomatitis. I rinsed twice a day, and already on the third day of rinsing, the stomatitis began to go away. In addition, we began to treat scratches with it instead of brilliant green - the can is equipped with a spray, which is more convenient. I advise everyone to keep this antiseptic in their home medicine cabinet.

History of creation [edit | edit code]
Development of the drug began in the 1980s, when, as part of the Space Biotechnology program, large-scale scientific research began on the creation of an antiseptic drug for astronauts at orbital stations. The task turned out to be incredibly difficult. The new drug, taking into account the confined space and high temperature in the compartments of the orbital station, had to effectively combat various types of bacteria, viruses and fungi and at the same time remain safe for humans with long-term repeated use [11] [ not in the source
] [12] .
Another important condition has emerged: the new drug must also be effective against strains of bacteria resistant to antibiotics. Work on creating a medicine took place within the framework of the national space program. During long-term experiments, chemists from the country's leading research institutes synthesized thousands of compounds until they settled on a specific substance [13]. It was this that was used a few years later under the name Miramistin. The initial study of the microbiological activity of the drug was carried out in Crimea, at the Department of Microbiology and Virology of the Crimean State Medical University. S.I. Georgievsky.
Preclinical studies of the drug, which was then called BX-14, as well as all work on the search for a new substance, were carried out under the guidance of the famous Russian microbiologist, author of a large number of scientific works and textbooks on microbiology, academician of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, Professor Yuri Krivoshein, together with k.kh. n. Adolina Rudko [14].
By the mid-1980s, the drug had already passed preclinical trials and was ready for clinical use in humans. The start of testing the drug was greatly facilitated by the holding of the Olympics in Moscow. By this time, studies had shown that BX-14 effectively fights sexually transmitted infections [15]. The permission to “boost” clinical trials of the drug right before the Olympics was personally accepted by the then Minister of Health Boris Petrovsky. Later, additional full-scale studies of the drug were conducted throughout the country [16].
A change in the clinical picture in 1982 regarding the treatment of certain diseases caused by microbes expanded the “line” of use of the drug: miramistin was used for local treatment of pathological conditions of the ENT organs [17] [18], for the treatment of herpes [19] [ not in the source
] of various types, as well as in combustiology, obstetrics and gynecology.
