Characteristics of Ovuplan n5
This series of ovulation tests is produced by the famous manufacturer Leb International, USA. Inside the pack there are 5 test strips packed in foil bags. In appearance and in the method of application, they are similar to pregnancy tests, only they determine the release of another hormone in a woman’s body. The test is highly sensitive, showing the presence of 30 mIU/ml LH in the urine, with high accuracy of the reliability of the result.
The main advantages of the test are:
- high accuracy of the result -99%;
- low price (the average price in pharmacies is 185.00 rubles);
- shelf life for 2 years;
- Detailed instructions on how to use the test and how to make calculations are given on the back of the individual packaging.
This method of determining ovulation has no significant negative qualities. A small minus may seem to be the lack of test strips. There are only 5 of them inside.
For women with irregular menstruation and whose ovulation dates fluctuate, more test strips are needed.
However, if you compare prices with the method of determining ovulation using ultrasound diagnostics, even 2-3 packs per month will cost much less. Of course, the accuracy of determining ovulation using test strips is not so high .

How to determine if you are ovulating without a test
Ovulation tests have become a good help for married couples who want to have a child. However, with a disturbed menstrual cycle, when periods are irregular, resorting to ovulation tests is too expensive.
Another method of calculating ovulation would be more appropriate - measuring the basal temperature in the rectum. In the first phase of the cycle, when the estrogen component predominates, the rectal temperature remains at 36.2-36.6 degrees. During the periovulatory period, estrogen levels decrease, and basal temperature rises and remains at 36.8-37.0 degrees. The highest value is recorded at the moment of follicle rupture - 37.4 degrees, and then decreases again.
Temperature should only be measured in the rectum. It is best to do this in the morning immediately after sleep. The constructed graph based on the measurements obtained allows us to judge the menstrual cycle irregularities.
A monotonous basal temperature not exceeding 37 degrees indicates a single-phase anovulatory cycle, which makes pregnancy impossible. Measuring rectal temperature is a simple and accessible way to calculate ovulation and detect menstrual irregularities.
Operating principle
Inside an individual foil pouch there is a test strip on which an indicator with a reagent is applied. This reagent reacts to the level of luteinizing hormone (LH), the ovulation hormone. When this hormone increases or is released, a second line appears on the test, next to the control line. Luteinizing hormone increases 2 days before the release of the egg from the follicle. When the egg ready for fertilization is released, the LH hormone will reach its peak and the most favorable time for conception will come.
Interesting fact: the likelihood of conceiving a boy is higher on the day of ovulation or the day before it, while girls are more often conceived 2-3 days before ovulation. If explained in science, the process of fertilization involves a sperm and an egg. Some sperm carry a male chromosome, some carry a female chromosome.
The egg always has only the female chromosome. The merger results in either a boy or a girl. Sperm with a male chromosome are more mobile and reach the egg first, but are less viable. They die in an acidic environment. By the time of ovulation, the environment in the vagina becomes closer to neutral, moist and helps better penetration of sperm. Here, the boys will be first. If sexual intercourse occurs 2-3 days before ovulation, then only sperm with a female chromosome will survive to see the release of the egg.
How to decipher indicators
If you did everything correctly, all that remains is to correctly interpret the data received. Here are the possible options:
- There is no indicator strip. You purchased a defective or expired product. It is not usable. But this is very rare, because the manufacturing company scrupulously monitors all stages of production. Their product is high quality.
- There is no second line at all, or it is very pale. This result is considered negative. It means that there is either no ovulation, or it will not occur very soon. Continue testing.
- The second stripe is as bright as the first, or even brighter. Ovulation has occurred or will occur in the coming hours. Soon the follicle will rupture and a full-fledged egg will come out of it, ready for fertilization by sperm. Lead an active sex life so as not to miss the moment.
If you test many times without success, it is likely that you have anovulation. But don't rush to panic. Sometimes it's okay. Thus, the body rests from the stress received, so that later it can work more productively, with new strength. For a woman under 30 years of age, the norm is two anovulatory cycles per year (not in a row). After this age, their number increases. But if there are problems with ovulation (it is absent for 3 cycles or more), there may be problems at the hormonal level, as well as serious diseases that can lead to infertility (polycystic ovary syndrome, uterine fibroids, etc.). Therefore, as soon as you notice problems with the organs of the reproductive system, go for a consultation with your gynecologist. He will direct you to the necessary tests and procedures, decipher the results, and then find out the cause and help eliminate it.
Instructions for use
Before testing at home, you need to know some information about your menstrual cycle:
- its length;
- regular or not.
The release of the ovulation hormone occurs in the middle of the menstrual cycle , dividing it into two phases: the follicular and the corpus luteum (luteal) phase. In the classic version, with a 28-day cycle in a woman, the LH surge occurs on days 13-14, while it is advisable to start the analysis from day 11. What if the cycle is different or irregular? Then there is a formula that makes it convenient to independently calculate on what day to start testing.
It is known that the follicular phase lasts from 11 to 17 days. The luteal phase consistently takes 14 days. To calculate what date to start our study, take the length of our cycle and subtract 17. This figure is obtained by summing two values - 14 (length of the luteal phase) +3 (maximum number of days of ovulation). As a result, we will get the date from which to start using ovulation tests. For example, the cycle length is 32 days. Subtract 17 and we get that on day 15 we start doing tests.
If the cycle is irregular, we take the minimum cycle length for calculation. The resulting date will become the starting point, we begin the diagnosis from it and continue until we see the peak of the release of the LH hormone, that is, two bright stripes.
Important! When performing the test, strictly follow the instructions! 2 hours before urine collection, you should stop drinking liquids and urinating.
According to the instructions, you need:
- Collect urine in a clean container.
- Remove the test strip from the bag.
- Lower the test strip into the container with urine to the level indicated by the arrows for 5 seconds.
- Remove the test strip and place it on a clean, dry surface until developed.
- The answer appears within 10 minutes.
To avoid getting an incorrect result, it is important to remember that the first morning urine is too concentrated and cannot be taken for analysis. Also, the test strip cannot be removed from its individual envelope in advance.
What else needs to be taken into account when doing analysis at home? Testing is carried out at the same time. Doctors call the most favorable time period from 10 am to 20 pm.
Conclusion
In the matter of family planning, a test to calculate your current fertility will be the first step towards the desired pregnancy.
Often the process of conception is difficult due to the fact that “unsuccessful” days were chosen. Determining ovulation will solve this problem. Eviplan is ideal for women who want to quickly and accurately determine the moment of ovulation at home.
A responsible approach to pregnancy planning is the key to happy motherhood. Modern methods create increasingly favorable conditions for successful conception. An ovulation test is an accurate and safe tool towards a woman’s goal of becoming a mother.
Decoding the results
If everything is done according to the instructions, look at the result. There may be 4 options here.
- The two stripes are equal in color brightness. Sometimes the test line is brighter than the control line. This is a positive result. Ovulation will occur within 12-24 hours.
- The test line is paler than the control line. The result is negative (unlike pregnancy tests). Ovulation either did not take place, or it did, or there is still time to wait for it. If repeating the test during the cycle does not show ovulation, then the cycle is anovulatory. This means that ovulation did not occur in this cycle.
- The band did not appear. Such a test is considered defective.
- False positive result. We see 2 bright lines on the test, but in reality there is no ovulation. This often happens when a woman was diagnosed while taking hormonal medications or stimulated ovulation with injections.
When to conceive if the result is positive?
Express diagnostics makes it possible to understand that within some time the egg, mature and ready for fertilization, will leave the ovary. If the Ovuplan (ovulation test) is positive, this indicates a high LH level. However, this does not mean that you need to start conceiving right away.
The egg released from the ovary lives for 24 hours, so it is recommended to pause for 5-10 hours after receiving a positive result. During this time, the egg will completely leave the gonads and will be ready for fertilization.

This process should not be postponed until the last hours of the egg’s life, because conception does not occur immediately; some time must pass before the sex cells meet each other.
Doesn't show result
Let's look at the reasons why Ovuplan may not show ovulation.
- The test is spoiled because the packaging was opened in advance, water got into the test, and the shelf life was exceeded.
- Climate change, moving to hot countries.
- Infectious disease, hypothermia.
- Taking hormonal drugs.
- Stress and excessive fatigue.
- Unhealthy lifestyle - abuse of alcohol, coffee, energy drinks, smoking.
- Diet.
- The individuality of a woman's body. For example, if someone produces the ovulation hormone in such large quantities, the outcome will be positive on other days of the cycle.
- The instructions were not followed: a lot of liquid was drunk, the analysis was carried out on morning urine.
The pack includes 5 test strips for determining ovulation, 3.5 mm wide, individually packaged in aluminum foil bags
