Features of the use of panangin during pregnancy, indications, effectiveness and side effects

Pregnancy is a difficult period for a woman. Bearing responsibility for yourself and your unborn child, you need to be attentive to your own health. During pregnancy, the need for macronutrients increases. During pregnancy, Panangin helps correct deficiency and is also used for preventive purposes.

Panangin during pregnancy

This medicine does not contain potent substances and is not taken seriously by many patients. Despite the imaginary “harmlessness”, the use of Panangin requires strict adherence to the instructions.

The prescription of this drug to an expectant mother must be justified: the use of any drug during pregnancy is associated with the risk of unwanted reactions.

Description

Panangin can be considered a vitamin medicine; it contains only potassium and magnesium. It can be prescribed separately to compensate for the deficiency of these substances in the body, but more often it is used in complex therapy.

Indications for the use of this drug may occur if you have heart problems. Of course, not all disturbances in the functioning of the heart during pregnancy require drug correction, since an increased load on the heart muscle is characteristic of this period. However, if you have rhythm disturbances, heart failure or coronary artery disease, such a need exists. Panangin is used in additional therapy with cardiac glycosides, improves and increases their effect and tolerability.

Prescription of "Panangin" during pregnancy

"Panangin" is prescribed by doctors for symptoms of hypokalemia and hypomagnesemia - deficiencies of potassium and magnesium salts that occur due to disturbances in electrolyte metabolism or insufficient intake of macroelements from food.

The diagnosis of hypokalemia or hypomagnesemia cannot be established solely on the basis of an in-person examination and interview of the pregnant woman. The symptoms of these conditions are described in the table. To confirm the assumption of a lack of electrolytes, the doctor prescribes a biochemical blood test to determine the content of electrolytes in the plasma. The second name of the analysis is ionogram.

Table - Manifestations of potassium and magnesium deficiency

Due to the special importance of potassium and magnesium for the functioning of the heart muscle, Panangin is used in the complex treatment of diseases of the cardiovascular system:

  • IHD;
  • angina pectoris;
  • heart failure;
  • arrhythmia (ventricular origin);
  • during therapy with cardiac glycosides.

Instructions for use Panangin

Many pregnant women do not take this drug seriously, considering it just vitamins that cannot cause any harm. But meanwhile, it is worth recalling that these are synthetic substances that a priori cannot be absolutely safe. Let's say that Panangin contains only potassium and magnesium, but they cannot be used unless necessary. More doesn't mean better! And hypervitaminosis during pregnancy can cause more harm than good.

important I would like to note that there are no absolute contraindications to the use of Panangin during pregnancy and lactation. However, in the first 12 weeks, if possible, it should be abandoned, since there is no clinical data on its effect on the embryo.

Only your attending physician can confirm the advisability of prescribing and taking Panangin for you! At the same time, he must take into account all the indications and contraindications in your particular case.

In what cases can Panangin be prescribed during pregnancy?

Pregnancy is a difficult period for a woman. Bearing responsibility for yourself and your unborn child, you need to be attentive to your own health. During pregnancy, the need for macronutrients increases. During pregnancy, Panangin helps correct deficiency and is also used for preventive purposes.

The drug is widely used in therapeutic and cardiological settings. Panangin contains potassium and magnesium aspartate. The active ingredients are non-toxic and do not directly affect the development of the fetus. The medicine has good compatibility, therefore it is successfully used as part of complex therapy.

Panangin is available in two forms:

  • solution for parenteral administration;
  • tablets for oral administration.

The optimal choice is to prescribe the enteral form of Panangin, which is gradually absorbed, reducing the risk of overdose to a minimum. The drug does not cause drowsiness or addiction and is approved for use while driving.

According to official instructions, taking Panangin during pregnancy is not prohibited, but caution is required. This is not explained by the fact that cases of negative effects on the mother and unborn child have been recorded, but by the lack of appropriate clinical trials among pregnant women.

Despite the fact that the drug can be taken during pregnancy, you should beware of adverse reactions.

Sometimes there may be:

  • Dyspeptic syndrome - vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, discomfort in the stomach. As a rule, people who experienced these adverse events suffered from concomitant gastrointestinal pathology, for example, gastritis with low acidity.
  • Disturbance in the conduction of electrical impulses in the heart from the atrium to the ventricles.
  • Paradoxical reaction to the drug. During gestation, Panangin is often prescribed to stop extrasystole, but sometimes taking it, on the contrary, provokes the appearance of extraordinary heart contractions.
  • Dyspeptic syndrome may occur, accompanied by tingling and a feeling of pins and needles in the extremities.
  • Hypermagnesemia. In case of an overdose of the drug, facial hyperemia, a feeling of constant thirst, convulsions, depression of reflexes and breathing appear. Using Panangin in extremely high quantities can cause cardiac arrest. However, this applies more to the parenteral form, since it is difficult to get an overdose by taking tablets.

Dosage of the drug

The dosage and duration of use are always calculated individually, depending on the reasons for the prescription.

Admission rules:

  1. Most often, during pregnancy, Panangin is prescribed 1-2 tablets per day.
  2. It is recommended to take the drug after meals, since gastric juice reduces its therapeutic effect.
  3. Also, you should not combine Panangin with taking other drugs containing potassium and magnesium.

During pregnancy, you need to be more careful about what you drink, eat, or what medications you take. Not every vitamin complex can benefit you, and their unjustified use can even harm your long-awaited baby. Do not self-prescribe. Discuss everything with your doctor! Be careful and healthy!
