According to Mikhail Tevelev, he left the business two years ago. As Elena Krasovskaya told RBC St. Petersburg, the choice of the Marcellis chain was determined by the prospects of the brand: “It is aimed at a family audience. And we think this is the long-term prospect.” Now there are 10 Marcellis restaurants in St. Petersburg, and one in Moscow. By the end of the year, the restaurant on Nevsky Prospekt will be updated, and other chain facilities are planned to be updated in the future. The co-founder and now former owner of the Food Retail Group, Mikhail Tevelev, judging by the data from the file of arbitration cases, was declared bankrupt a year ago in a lawsuit filed. The entrepreneur's property will be sold.
“If we take into account the composition of Mikhail Tevelev’s property and the insolvency of the main debtors for whom he vouched, then the creditors’ chances of repaying their debts must be considered low,” says Sergey Bakeshin, head of the dispute resolution and bankruptcy practice at Maxima Legal. He points out that the financial manager found two cars from the debtor (BMW 750 and Porsche Cayenne), balances in bank accounts (worth about 100 thousand rubles) and shares in the authorized capital of one and a half dozen legal entities with a total value of just over 49 million rub. The total amount of claims of creditors with voting rights exceeds 13 billion rubles. The largest creditor is Interkommerts Bank, the amount of its claims is more than 10 billion rubles. These demands are based on Mikhail Tevelev’s guarantees for the obligations of legal entities.
As Alexandra Ulezko, head of the Kachkin and Partners bankruptcy group, emphasizes, transactions with the debtor’s property were not disputed, moreover, as follows from the conclusion of the financial manager, he did not identify invalid transactions. Also, according to the manager, there are no signs of deliberate or fictitious bankruptcy. “Nevertheless, creditors can independently initiate challenges to transactions and write statements to law enforcement agencies. It’s difficult to say, without knowing all the circumstances of the case, to what extent there are real grounds for this,” says Alexandra Ulezko. “It is unlikely that the main creditor, Interkommerts Bank, which itself has been going bankrupt for four years, will have the strength, means and motivation to effectively support such a statement,” Sergei Bakeshin doubts.
Mikhail Tevelev, by law, for three years from the date of completion of bankruptcy, does not have the right to participate in the management of legal entities, including holding positions in their management bodies. “Whether Mikhail Tevelev will be able to raise funds to open a new business after this will depend on the trust and goodwill of potential creditors or co-investors,” the lawyer sums up.

At that time, loans were taken from the holding’s legal entities for more than 9 billion rubles, and another 1 billion rubles. Contractors, banks and restaurant suppliers filed claims in court. Although Mikhail Tevelev was determined to preserve the business and continue working, a year later, in 2020, he was declared bankrupt.
